In today’s episode of The Art of Passive Income, Mark and Scott welcome special guest and founder of Aspen Funds, Bob Fraser, to the show.

Bob Fraser began as a computer scientist from Berkeley who started a successful e-commerce dot-com in the 90s and later began a hedge fund. After encountering several roadblocks over the years, such as losing his dot-com business and the crash of 2008, he started his search for something new.

After personally experiencing the volatility of the stock market and seeing investors take large losses with portfolios, Bob and his partner Jim were determined to design an investment fund that would provide excellent investor returns without being so dependent on the economic cycles. They did so by finding a niche in one of the most overlooked areas in real estate investing, mortgage notes.

David: You have to have a flight plan for your life, you have to have a goal for your life. My favorite goal book right now is Atomic Habits by James Clear. We have a goal template at the goaltemplate.com. The reality is you have to choose something, and if you choose nothing you get what you get, you don’t throw a fit because you choose nothing. You have to choose and get after it hard and then make detours and adjustments along the way. My advice is go to a coffee shop and get a journal you’re inspired by and turns you on, and write what you want to manifest in 2020, in the next 5 years. Put it together in a series of goals and be held accountable to what you created.
